I saw this at an industry screening and thought it was episodic, worse than a telemovie; wooden acting a stereotyped responses by second-rate actors; did NOT star billy connolly, he was in the movie for less than 100 seconds; had a completely baseless and unrealistic plot (if any plot at all); and the monologue by the chick stated the exact OPPOSITE of what her character learned during the film. fucked, negative a billion. sorry for swearing, but it was fucked. wha? this was a totally fucked-up film! worse than ishtar! worse than the fisher king! I read the book and it's significantly weaker. Michelle Pfeiffer totally embodied Ingrid. Like The Hours, it's a movie about women, but not necessarily for women. Relating to The Hours - I saw it with my mom and my boyfriend, and my mom hated it and the boyfriend loved it. My (male) coworker was the one who had recommended it. Go figure.
