I loved this movie! It was a little depressing, but really deep and meaningful.

wha? this was a totally fucked-up film! worse than ishtar! worse than the fisher king! I saw this at an industry screening and thought it was episodic, worse than a telemovie; wooden acting a stereotyped responses by second-rate actors; did NOT star billy connolly, he was in the movie for less than 100 seconds; had a completely baseless and unrealistic plot (if any plot at all); and the monologue by the chick stated the exact OPPOSITE of what her character learned during the film. fucked, negative a billion.

sorry for swearing, but it was fucked.

I was very impressed by the movie. I read the book and it's significantly weaker. Michelle Pfeiffer totally embodied Ingrid. Like The Hours, it's a movie about women, but not necessarily for women. Relating to The Hours - I saw it with my mom and my boyfriend, and my mom hated it and the boyfriend loved it. My (male) coworker was the one who had recommended it. Go figure. All hail the demise of the 'chick flick.'
