trailer: why lie i need a drink?

February 10th, 2006 by John Marcotte

Our buddy Keith Lowell Jensen, the panhandling banana, has unveiled the trailer for Why Lie I Need a Drink, his movie on panhandling. The film has been shot and he needs $5,000.00 to complete post production.

To quote from his blog:

Okay, now you’ve seen it, peer on over at them donate buttons on the right. C’mon, you know you want to be a “producer” of a top notch panhandling documentary. So go ahead, gimme money.

While my online panhandling continues to earn at a snail’s paste, the documentary funding is off to a great start. We’ve gotten $400 (thanks Larry Scholl and John J.) in finishing funds donated since putting this trailer up. Thanks guys. You can donate using the donation buttons on the site, just specify that you’re sponsoring the film and not buying me green tea and wheat free vegan brownies. Feel free to contact us about sponsorships as well. Just write to whylieineedadrink at yahoo.com. thanks. And hey, I could really use some green tea and wheat free vegan brownies.

To donate money, visit Keith’s panhandling site or the site of Apprehensive Studios.

There have been so many misconceptions about the recent cover of The New Yorker that I felt compelled to address a few of them: It’s funny. I know there are people out there who think it isn’t, but they’re clearly wrong. It’s so patently ridiculous, it can’t help but bring a smile. The Obamas are not the subject of the ... [Link]

Oh Baby Daddy … He called again, and I didn’t realize it was him until had picked up. He was rather self-righteous about now having the time to ‘be involved.’ I told him he needs to write down specifically what that means to him and we would talk. But I am not giving an inch. He even got huffy b/c ... [Link]

Our mayor is taking part in this national push by municipalities to get people to ditch bottled water for tap water. It’s better for the environment, it’s cheaper, blah blah blah. Only problem is that our tap water is damn near undrinkable right now. It’s truly foul. It smells nearly as bad as it tastes. A shower leaves you feeling ... [Link]

A bunch of people get screwed. Big Bad Corporate Mortgage Company 2 closed up shop yesterday. Granted, it’s not as bad as the last mortgage company I worked for, but it’s still pretty fucked up. Plus, I’m losing a potential $5k a month in freelance fees. In fact, who knows if I’ll get paid for the two weeks of work ... [Link]
