For the love of God, go see the movie Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki.
Spirited Away is a cartoon. It is also the highest-grossing movie in Japanese history. It made more money than Titanic. It made more than Star Wars.
Most people in the U.S. have not seen the film. It was barely released by Disney last year. Although it recieved the best reviews of any movie in 2002, Disney barely advertised the release. Perhaps they realized how lackluster their own recent animated features would seem compared to this masterpiece.
At any rate, it was a crime. This movie should have been bigger than The Lion King. Instead, my wife and I, along with my niece, comprised about half the audience when we saw it on opening night here in Sacramento.
Disney has put the movie back in the theater after it won the Best Animated Feature Oscar, so you have a second chance to see it on the big screen. Get off your butt and go.
The movie is great. Like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or The Princess Bride, it is a rare film that is equally entertaining for children and adults alike. But Spirited Away has a sense of quiet magic about it that those other films do not possess–a Tolkein-esque feeling of legends and gods long forgotten.
The movie is also being released on DVD on April 15th. You should all buy a copy then. Preferably, you should buy one from Amazon by clicking here. If you do, I get a nickle or something. Amazon is offering 25% off for preorders, so it ain’t a half-bad deal.
But I don’t want to make it look like I’m just trying to sell you something here. The important thing is to see the movie. Right now, you’ve been offered a rare second chance to see a classic on the big screen.

Finally saw Spirited Away. Mr. Miyazaki is a drug addict freak, but his work is fun to watch. Once again I caught myself saying, “Huh?” during the course of this film, but after a while you just get lost in the prettiness of the animation and the strangeness of the plot.
Lots of fun.
I thought the movie was great in the beginning I was so confused but i finally got it and I was just in aw way to go Mr. Miyazaki it was awsome and I loved the ideal you had about making chihiro act Just like a little girl now that was cool!!!!!!!!!!
The movie was breathtaking and gorgeous. Mr Miyazaki’s crew has done an incredible amount to make this film appear fantastic. The movie does tend to become weird and… you’ll get what i mean when u see it, but the overall effect makes you want to watch it again.
I thought the movie…sprited away…was wired but it make me see it again. I’m one of those people that have to see the movie over and over again and than I understand. I agree that this movie is not for younger children…especially the children that scares easily.
I did love KiKi delievy service and Tortoro. They were child like movies for my children. I wasn’t crazy about ..the castle in the sky…to much violance.
Please Mr. Hayeo…please make more movies like Kiki and tortoro…Maybe make a second KiKi…I would love to see that.

Sprited away was a movie that I have watched over and over because it was so interesting to see and so artistic I couldn’t keep my eyes off the movie. In some ways it was weird or different but i liked it anyways so over all it was a great movie. I wished that you made a sequal to it I’d liked to know more about the characters, and the mysterious haku.

Spirited Away was a great movie, it NEEDS a sequel.. how is anybody supposed to know what happened to Kohaku!? he must leave yubaba and find his river again. even though it is covered in apartments.. The river may be dammed up and he needs to free it. or, or maybe he finds a new river! oh i really hope there’s a second one.. five star under my roof, and Kiki’s Dilevery service was real good too.. i need to rent that one again…
i never knew the meaning of “a good movie” until i saw Spirited Away.
if you havent watched it yet…you’re missing out, big time.
the story-line is sooo fresh and appealing to all audiences.
there has to be a sequel…i mean…isn’t there gonning to be? for all the fans!

my sister bought me a copy of Spirited Away for my birthday and I loved it! At first I thought it was going to be some cheesy Disney sh!t but it wasn’t. Anyhow I am a college student and despite my age Spirted Away was so sweet,awesome,interesting,unique,- alright words can not describe this cool film! i watch it almost every weekend!! At the ending I always cry!! I want a sequel!!!
I just saw Spirited Away and its my third favorite anime, next to Akira and Ghost In The Shell. Its a nonsappy anime version of Alice in Wonderland. This filled me with awe and extreme euphoria. Now I think Hayao Miyazaki is the Dalai Lama of anime!!
wow!!!!!i rented this movie 4 me my wife and my 5 yr old son,my son really enjoyed the film for all the creative animation.it just mashed my head up!!!but has left us talking about it ever since..exerlent movie,just glad the mushrooms were in the fridge…
It was already movie few years ago, but I just watched recently on Channel 8 with Chinese Dubbing. The best part is Chihiro starts crying when she tells the Yubaba twin sister that she needs to go back or else her parents and Haku will die. It was so touching! Chihiro, from a slightly spolit girl to a brave and matured girl. She is very loyal to her friends and her parents when they are in danger.
It was a good movie. I was still thinking whether to buy the VCD.

spirited away was one of the best movies i have ever seen. i just bought it yesterday( 4,14.05)i really wish that there was a sequal. i have tihs weird habbit of dreamming a bout movies and my dreams are often sequals but tis 1 was weird. yo start of with chichro in thwe woods neerb that tunnel and she has figured out how to send kohakou(haku) lettars you see he sayed that she couldnt ************LOOK************* bach so she closes her eyes and takes a rope and ties it to that satatue her dad allmost ran over then she walks to the bridge with her eyes still shut then she leaves the lettar on a post with a note asking whoever pickes it up to give it to haku and her gets the lettar. her has allready quit and has been stayijng in the river ( it dosnt bother him since her was a river spirt.) charouco teels him to try and find away across the rive , she tinks she has fiound a way to let him stay in then human world. when ( after most of the movie) he gets there he takes up a fale id and becomes a student a charros new school. then charro show him her secret her parents made a small river in there backyard that has never been named. so guess what she dos… up she names the rver the kohakou river and the spell taht allowed him to stay shatters( it was kind of like a gloweing force feild that only charro could see.)n then whell ( you know what happens…xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo) end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have heard there is a sequel to spirited away but it has a totally different name so it is hard to look up and i saw a commercial with it recently but forgot the name……..
