]]> By: American Pundit Fighting http://www.badmouth.net/fantastic-four-rise-of-the-silver-surfer-2007/comment-page-1/#comment-84560 American Pundit Fighting Tue, 26 Jun 2007 12:40:49 +0000 http://www.badmouth.net/fantastic-four-rise-of-the-silver-surfer-2007/#comment-84560 Fantastic Four was enjoyable. i was aware of the harsh reviews, and as i watched and enjoyed it waited for the foretold letdown. it never arrived, so i was pleasantly surprised. i guess it helps to go into movies with lower expectations. like the first movie, i resented the fact that this movie also didn't have a proper-set piece climax. but then you just come to the realization that this franchise if for family viewing. no gratuitous violence. no big showdowns. no frightening villainry. literally just 'good clean fun'. waited for the credits for Galactus to show up in full glory. the F4 video game advertised in the trailers had a shot of the Big-G. ended up just asking the cinema usher "anything coming up after this?". he shook his head. Look at the better Pixar films. Hell, look at "The Incredibles," which blatantly stole from the Fantastic Four and made a better film out of the material. I'd agree with that, but it doesn't forgive the film's sins -- it just reaches for an audience that will be more forgiving.
